The Fly by Katherine Mansfield revolves its story around one man, "the boss." He is characterized as selfish man. Hence, he has his own gambits to satisfy his needs and fulfill his own interests, only. When conversing with Mr. Woodifield, however, the boss becomes a kind man-a hidden side of his character. Yet, Mr. Woodifield, whose health continues to deteriorate, views the boss as canonical because the boss has good health and abundant wealth, which makes him seem superior than Mr. Woodifield. Mr. Woodifield truly desires to become healthier and the boss sympathizes him as the boss, on the other hand, believes that the old man will die soon and does not have much time in this world. Although it was out of sympathy, the avaricious man molded into a caring man. The old man softened the greed of the boss.

- The world described in "Tlon" is deceiving. It is created my juxtaposing real aspects, which make it seem as if this unknown country is actually real. The story contains sophism as it embraces ideas that try to convince the readers that such world is real. Its false arguments are made to seem feasible, but in reality, it is not.

- Wrestling is something more than a sport. Or, it covers the word "sport" in many different ways. In the essay about wrestling, Griffith inculcates a new idea about televised wrestling. The lecture states that wrestling's pyschological affects as a audience watching the sport can feel castration. Wrestling, like other sports, is a spectacle. Moreover, it can function in different ways, starting from a social event to a way of communicating.

There is a confusion about Marlow's attitude about black people. It is as if he is speaking in a cipher because he seems to subtly debunk the black people, but at the same time, Marlow seems infuriated by the way the white people treat the black people. At times, it feels like Marlow is a emissary who arrives to Congo to help the black people: to reveal the mistreatment they receive and the harsh conditions they live in. Yet, these impressions are ephemeral.
