The little box gets her first teeth
And her little length
Little width little emptiness
And all the rest she has
The little box continues growing
The cupboard that she was inside
Is now inside her
And she grows bigger bigger bigger
Now the room is inside her
And the house and the city and the earth
And the world she was in before
The little box remembers her childhood
And by a great longing
She becomes a little box again
Now in the little box
You have the whole world in miniature
You can easily put in a pocket
Easily steal it lose it
Take care of the little box
Script:
Introduction

Read the poem... Poetry slam
Part I
Explain the metaphor:
The Little Box - keep all the memories
The cupboard, - keep all the objects
Room, - where you grow up
House, - explore the house
City, - explore the city
& World - globalization
-the objects that represent her growth of wisdom increase in size as she gets older
-
Part II
Talk about the syntax of the poem
Repetition “little” & “bigger” - its significance
Iambic pentameter - smooth flow just like time and the growth of knowledge
Conclusion
Analogy with Jack In the Box?
Summarize my main points - metaphors & syntax
1. Analysis -- what specifically does the person do well in analyzing?
Asking questions that he had beforehand. "What is the little box"
It makes it easier to follow along for the reader.
2. Analysis -- if the person had to do this again, what would you recommend in analysis?
Organization. I got lost in the middle because there was nothing to help me follow along with what he was saying. More visual aid!
3. What is something you found surprising? or amusing?
Reason for picking the poem! "Little box, jack in the box!"
4. What is something you don't understand or find confusing?
Because there was no text, it's harder to follow along with the analysis in the middle.
5. Comment on the visual portion of this video.
More text needed!
6. Other?
What he had to say was really interesting. But more text is needed!

What I Deserve - Mike
1. Analysis -- what specifically does the person do well in analyzing?
-I did well allowing the readers to follow the poem chronologically. I explained stanza by stanza in order to talk about the poem. Not only that but also I pointed out the metaphors and the repetitions within the poem that the author utilizes in order carry his point across to his readers--don't be arrogant, because you might lose wisdom in a snap.
2. Analysis -- if the person had to do this again, what would you recommend in analysis?
-I think I definitely needed more organization within the video--it could've been done with the subtitles.
3. What is something you found surprising? or amusing?
-I found it surprising that the "little box" represented our mind. At first, it was not obvious to me what the box was but reading it several times, I figured it out.
4. What is something you don't understand or find confusing?
-I still find it confusing how we can lose our wisdom so fast. But I do see from historical evidences like Napoleon that I mentioned that it does happen quite often.
5. Comment on the visual portion of this video.
-I had completely forgotten about the subtitles in the video, so that is lacking
6. Other?
I think I deserve a B+ because although I failed to do subtitles, the analysis that I presented is of quality.
