Passing away of grandparents

→I have never seen my dad cry. Yet, tonight, he is weeping more than I have ever seen anybody cry. As soon as the airplane took off from the bumpy runway, tears ran down from his eyes and were absorbed in the tissue that he was holding. And in the little plane table in front him, were a pile of napkins.Trapped in the little space of economic class seat, my dad that I had always leaned against looked like a baby.
→Our family had come back to Singapore from Europe just three hours ago under the pouring rain. After a fifteen hour flight from Paris, we got into the cab. The taxi driver carefully maneuvered in the sudden intensive shower that shrouded everything in vision. Not able to see one meter in front, our whole family peered carefully through the window, just in case of an accident, despite the exhaustion. And finally, we arrived at home and quickly ran under cover to not get soaked. With rain pounding on our window in the darkness of the night, we called our grandparent's phone to tell them that we arrived safely. Ring. Ring. My grandparents did not pick up. 'They must be sleeping,' we thought and rang one more time. Ring. Ring. Still no answer. Oh well, we'll just call our aunt and tell them that we are back. Ring.
→"Hello? Gee Woo?" My aunt answered with a tired voice.
→"Yeah! We are back in Singapore from our trip, how are things in Korea?" My dad inquired.
→"Parents passed away." Lightning cracked and thunder rang across our house.
→The short answer that we received shocked us all. It was just simply unbelievable. We sat down and cried, all of us, except dad. Looking stern, he tried to assure comfort for all of us. He calmly called the Korean Airline office in Singapore and booked us for the daily eleven o' clock flight to Seoul, then he sat down, staring out of our living room window at the rain that seemed as if it was shaking the whole world, the leaves, cars, and the trees.
→On the plane, however, he could not hold himself back. While the rest of the family members fell asleep from exhaustion, he cried the whole flight to Seoul telling me of all the things that he could have done for his parents now that he was a professor, taking them to eat delightful cuisines, paying for their vacation in exotic tropical islands, and even taking care of them in our own house. And I wondered about my dad and my mom, as the plane went through another turbulence, 'what I have done for them?' Practically nothing.
→I also thought about the values that my grandparents held dear to their heart during their life: God.
