Chaeri's Comments:
Jung Ah mentioned in her essay that enjambment is used to emphasize on the theme of the poem: isolation. She also commented on how the use of line breaks in the poem brings out visual images to the reader. For example, the enjambment used in this specific line, "We wake to water. / Implacably lovely / is this view / though it will swallow / us whole, soon” (17-21) resembles the sound and image of ocean waves clashing slowly and briefly. I thought this was very interesting because when I re-read the poem after reading Jung Ah's paper, I was able to picture the movement of the ocean ripples. This was very interesting! Yay :)
