I. Introduction
*A. Thesis – Many things obviously go awry in the novel Frankenstein, but the blame cannot be put on the cause, the monster. Instead, Victor and the society are at fault, but not the monster

II. Point One – explain what Victor did wrong and why he shares the blame
*A. Sub point – Victor’s creation
*1. Victor’s desire to create the monster is understandable, but it is what he did after the creation that is not forgivable: he abandoned the monster. And afterwards, all he wanted to do was punish the monster for its evil deeds
*B. Sub point – Victor’s responsibilities after creation
*2. Even after Victor learns that the monster’s spite came out of loneliness and want of sympathy, Victor did not think to take responsibility for that himself.

II. Point Two – explain what the society did
*A. Rejected the monster for its outlooks alone - (quote)
*B. tried to punish the monster after jumping to conclusion without any evidence.

III. Point Three – explain why none of it is monster’s fault
*A. the monster was born with kind nature – he had the ability to sympathize and be good – but the society taught him evil nature such as punishment and revenge
*B. Even after learning of evil, all that the monster wanted was to have a friend. After many trials, he finds no other solution other than to seek the creator out and demand one thing
Analysis: unlike the society and Victor who’s purpose towards the monster was punishment, the monster’s so-called “revenge” was caused out of true hatred and hurt towards mankind. The monster did not cause the murders for the sole reason of “punishment” – which was the case for the society and Victor.

Conclusion: The blame mainly lies on Victor and the society who did not realize that punishing what may seem like evil is the only solution to deal with the evil. However, if Victor and the society did not focus on punishing, they would have seen the solution, and this story would not even have to be written.
