HW 8/25/2009
Reading Blogs Assignment:
1. Find one blog that is a “regular” person’s post, but you feel could serve as a college essay. Link to it on your page the wiki and explain why (briefly). http://www.dragosroua.com/
This blog can definitely serve as a college essay because it's all about the author. "Who" she is, "how" she thinks, and "why" she thinks such ways are stated throughout her blog posts. The blog is just a continuous story about all the crossroads the author want to overcome, to solve, to discover, to find, to explain, to understand, to build, to create, to share or to complete, which are essential to college essays. College essays aren't history essays, it's more of telling the colleges "who I am". This site is perfect if we only look at how much we get to know the author through this blog. Her opinions, ideas, thoughts, and debates in this blog serve as a good example of how I should write my blog with "voice".
2. Find a blog that discusses a topic in-depth in some way that you are interested in. Either comment on their blog, quote them on your blog and link to their blog with a message on theirs that you did so, or some other way of connecting you have. Regardless, link these to your page on the wiki. http://orangette.blogspot.com/
I quoted this blog on my blog for its excellency in linking food with other daily life issues. She does a fantastic job in relating food with any kinds of issues, such as politics or her emotions.
3. Find one more blog post of note, link to it on ning, and briefly explain what makes it “good”. http://presurfer.blogspot.com/
A man sued for vandalism when he was just correcting the street signs, the opening of the first internet addiction rehab center, or 100 ways to live a better life-- these are only some of the peculiar bog posts of Vlemmings in his blog Presurfer. I frequently visit this blog because of its simplicity. Gerard Vlemmings, the author of this blog, writes on a wide variety of topics ranging from animals to politics to things that are just hilarious or weird. His blog posts regularly informs the readers about the world news or some kind of information that we never heard about before. All the information that I earn from this blog helps me in all of my classes because all the unique information on this blog is applicable in many different ways. His posts rarely go over 400 or even 300 words, but he inputs links so that the readers that want to read more about the news or the research can also do so. I love his choice of topics as well as his sarcasm that appears in many of the political blog posts.
